Hunter’s Guide
A Hunter can be fun to play and he is famous for having a pet with him while the Hunter himself takes out enemies from a distance.
Once you have a pet at your side you will see that leveling a Hunter is a real piece of cake. While you stand back firing your bullets or arrows your pet tanks the enemy and keeps it at distance which means that you will hardly get hit.

World of Warcraft’s single most popular character class, Hunters are excellent at crowd control with their ranged attacks, survival skills and pets that can become powerful allies. (or raid wipers)
The hunter class performs pulling, threat redirection, crowd control, and primarily ranged damage. Hunters have pets that add to their DPS and help manage aggro. They can also track, tame and train animals and beasts found in the wild. The well trained pet, on countless occasions, has saved a hunter’s life. It has been said by many, and throughout history, that hunters consider their weapons and pets to be their only true friends.
Overview
- Hunters tame the wild beasts of Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outland and Northrend, training them to fight at their side. Hunters are one of the seven classes that can have combat pets, however, they are the only ones that can name and feed their pets.
- Hunters excel in outdoor survival skills, such as tracking and laying traps.
- Hunters wear leather and cloth armor until level 40, at which they gain access to equipping mail armor. Hunters start with a two-handed axe and a gun, crossbow, or bow. With training, they can learn all other weapon skills except wands, maces, and two-handed maces. They are unable to use shields or plate armor.
Picking a Profession for Your Hunter
After deciding to play this class, a profession needs to be chosen that fits with the hunters skills. Your best bet is going to be the combination of skinning and leatherworking since this will enable you to make your own armor. Another great combination of professions are skinning and mining, as these will enable you to buy weapons and armor. There are professions that the hunter is not suited to, these include tailoring, enchanting and alchemy.
The other classes may find these professions very useful, where as the hunter gains no benefit. A middle of the road profession that can be very useful is herbalism, since you can use this to make your own healing potions. Until that is, you adopt a pet to aid with melee fighting.
The hunter shines at ranged warfare as was mentioned previously. Focus on using just bows and crossbows, until the ability to use guns has developed. Starting out you are given a basic bow, once you progress through levels you are able to upgrade and develop your ability. Other ranged weapons can be earned as quests are completed.
